About the Role
As a Project Manager you will lead and manage medium to large projects within our dynamic software engineering team. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager who has a strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies with the ability to manage a diverse range of projects, working effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders for efficient project implementation.
As an integral member of the organization, your role will encompass overseeing multiple projects simultaneously and driving the successful delivery of state-of-the-art software products whilst fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams. You have strong people management skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and execute project plans that are in alignment with business objectives. Advanced knowledge of risk management, budgeting, scheduling, and the ability to identify and mitigate project risks and resolve conflicts effectively.
This position will report to the Lead IT Project Manager, who reports to the IT Portfolio Manager, and plays a key role in the Project Management Center of Practice (COP).
The ideal candidate boasts a comprehensive knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices, strong stakeholder management skills, a clear understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with a proven track record of delivering high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Familiarity with Change Management Methodologies would be advantageous.
Project Planning and Management
- Coordinate and oversee the lifecycle of multiple medium to large technology projects utilizing suitable methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
- Manage and update project artefacts within the project planning tool, Monday.com
- Adhere to the Maples project delivery framework, ensuring relevant sign-off is received at each phase of the project from Portfolio Manager, Project Sponsors, Product Owners, and delivery teams
- Effectively communicate project expectations to stakeholders in a timely manner, liaising with them on an ongoing basis
- Monitor project progress, identify, and support the team in resolving any issues or risks that may impact project deliverables and success. Provide IT and Business management teams with project progress, issues, and risks through status reports
- Demonstrate expertise in risk and issue management; document risks and implement mitigation plans. Escalate risks to Project Lead, Portfolio Manager, and project team in a timely and efficient manner
- Lead and organize project status and working group meetings. Manage agendas, meeting minutes, and presentation materials
- Facilitate Lessons Learned and Retrospective sessions, implementing process enhancements
- Conduct project budgeting and variance analysis as required. Maintain accurate project documentation and project artefacts in the company's approved document repository
- Utilise and incorporate change management best practices and principles into the entire project lifecycle to achieve project objectives
Stakeholder Management
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, senior management, and Project Sponsors. Regularly communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders to help manage expectations
- Support the Portfolio Manager and Product Owner in managing expectations for project deliverables, stakeholder communications, and with implementing project governance
- Follow best practice and keep stakeholders well informed
- Consistently receives excellent feedback from senior stakeholders
- Engage with and influence stakeholder groups at a senior management level with the purpose of implementing identified solutions, prioritizing requirements, and ensuring that the necessary resources are in place to support business requirements
- Engage with colleagues to prioritize change, conduct impact assessments, and push back on change requests as necessary
EXPERIENCE
What You Bring
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, Leadership, etc.)
- PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE 2, or similar project management certification
- Prosci Change Management Certificate or similar change management certificate a plus
- Extensive experience as an IT Project Manager delivering a wide variety of software projects, both in-house and vendor-led
- Strong familiarity with agile and waterfall project management methodologies
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Stays current with industry standards and changes and demonstrates this knowledge through implementation
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to organize, direct, motivate and inspire others
- Good knowledge of IT Infrastructure/Operations
- Experience working in a law firm or other professional service industry also a plus
